I wrote a post over at socialwebcms.com to thank the developers for their hard work in reviving Pligg and putting out a product that is on the verge of coming out of beta.
I used Tori's JapanSoc testimonial since it told not only how JapanSoc was bringing the community together, but implied that the SWCMS system was key in making that happen.
Your implementation of pligg/socialwebcms has been amazing Nick.
I probably get accused of being a sensationalist/etc., but when I say the things I do about JapanSoc I mean it 100%.
I don't know how you do it. But it is amazing. Jsoc is (if it were possible) a perfect leveraging of the CMS.
The addition of the community blog running on prologue, the Big RSS feed to give users a sea of content to draw submissions from... it's just brilliant.
Social Web CMS is a great tool, but it seems to me that just like any tool the key has been knowing how to use it.
I was inspired by JapanSoc to start something similar for a design website (a site I am building for a friend). That means I will (hopefully) be around on the swcms forum and playing with swcms from now.

It's a smart move by reddit, and I bet Digg are watching closely. I don't think many small niche categories like "gaijin" will generate much interest, though. The temptation to click away to the "WTF" category is far too great! :-P
Digg should concentrate on getting foreign language versions done first, though, since they would rock the non-English world. Perhaps the copycats could do the same?
